Cherish Henning grew up in Austin, Texas, where her love of athletics and pitching began. A multi-sport high school athlete and varsity closer by 14, she went on to compete in multiple sports at the NCAA Division III level before a softball injury shifted her focus from playing to coaching.
After graduating from Texas Tech in 1999, Cherish moved to Wichita with her husband Aaron, and built a successful restaurant design business while homeschooling her four children. As her youngest daughter became an elite player, Cherish returned fully to coaching, bringing decades of experience to players of all levels.
Joining Tincher Pitching is a natural next step, allowing her to continue learning, growing, and helping athletes develop through proven, high-level training.
Why did Cherish choose Tincher Pitching?
“When I moved from Austin to the Midwest in 2000, it felt like stepping back in time (for the most part that was desirable) —but it was especially true in the softball world. I love coaching here, but I wanted to keep learning and stay ahead of the curve. Most programs were still teaching what I’d learned decades ago, and I needed something more advanced.
After studying many national programs, my search led me to Tincher Pitching. Watching their athletes and hearing Denny explain the movements, I immediately saw a deeper, smarter, and more efficient approach that aligned with what I already believed in. It was clear they weren’t just keeping up—they were leading.
I’m proud to train and coach with Tincher Pitching and to bring this level of knowledge and innovation to the athletes I work with.”
Here is what Denny says about Cherish.
“She is so smart. Seriously. The minute we met, I knew she was going to be a valuable member of the group. She has been successful in every area along the way. Watching the way she soaks up knowledge and asks insightful questions it is obvious that she is going to push all of us to the next level, including her own students. This is the kind of Instructor I would want for my daughter.”
