Krissy Govertsen, PhD. Not your typical pitching coach! Krissy grew up chasing speed as both a ski racer and a go-kart racer. She fell in love with softball at a young age but didn’t start pitching until late middle school, teaching herself through hours of YouTube videos and throwing sessions with her dad. Krissy played little league, recreational, travel, and a bit of DIII softball—and she still takes the mound today in the Portland Women’s Fastpitch Softball Association. Krissy began giving pitching lessons in Boston, MA, before relocating to Portland, OR in 2023. First she was a JV Head Coach in Boston, now, Krissy is the Head Coach at Ida B. Wells High School (@ibwhs_softball). She is also the founder of Rose City Rebels Softball (@rosecityrebelssoftball). Through these efforts, she continues to grow the game and help the next generation of athletes find their confidence on (and off) the field.
Here is why Krissy joined Tincher Pitching. “I pursued Tincher Pitching Certification because, as an educated woman, I deeply value the power of education, networking, and a shared foundation. Pitching instruction should have a common language, a proven standard, and a recognized certification that ensures quality and consistency for athletes. By becoming a certified Tincher instructor, I’ve joined a community committed to evidence-based teaching, continuous learning, and raising the bar for pitching development.”
Denny says Krissy is the type of person who helps the organization become better. “She is so smart, she is not afraid to challenge you, and she is always thirsty for knowledge. She has constantly pushed herself to improve in everything she does. That will be contagious for students. We are fortunate to have her among us.”
Krissy serves in the Portland, Oregon, metro area.
